Helvellyn via Striding Edge
Climb one of England's most iconic peaks via one of England's most dramatic mountain routes.
Service Description
Helvellyn is one of the most popular fells to climb in the Lake District. At 950m it is one of the highest fells, it is the fell that gets the most snow in the winter and it is an absolute classic example of a post glacial landscape (what's not to love). On this walk we will visit the summit via Striding Edge - one of the most dramatic and beautiful of all routes in the Lakes. After stopping for lunch on the summit we will return via the almost as dramatic Swirral Edge on the opposite side of Red Tarn. There is the option to take in the summit of Catstye Cam on the way back - and on warm days there is an opportunity to dip in Glenridding Beck if time allows. This walk will have you feeling like you are on top of the world. The views are next level - as are the photo opportunities. 13km - 1,167m - 3 Wainwrights I ask that all participants bring (as a minimum) the following to my walks: Waterproof Top and Bottoms Water Packed Lunch and plenty of Snacks Warm Layers Sun Protection If there is an item on the list that you don’t have but you’d still like to take part – please get in touch and I will try and find something for you to borrow. If you sign up to this walk, I will send more information about the route and what to expect on the day (including weather forecast and modifications to kit list) via email.
